Dave Glass "Acid Rain" Original Painting
Medium: Framed Ink and Brush on Board
Dimensions: 13" X 16"
"Originally illustrated ink and brush work for a limited edition silk screened poster, hand pulled on a friend's Frankenstein press. Used for a gig with a band I drummed for Red Eyed Rats, opening for Necktie and Murder Junkies in 2005 at The Barbary in Philly. Dino Sex, infamous Murder Junkies drummer, borrowed my drums for the show. The gig ended up in a riot, from inside the venue out onto the street, with fights breaking out between Nazis, bikers, random people in bands, and the audience. It was bloody and so were the limited posters that didn’t all survive. For a few years prior to this event, I was hand screen printing GG Allin and The Murder Junkies merch for his brother Merle Allin via my friend's business, Sourpuss Clothing." - Dave Glass
Un-tuned to the world, Dave Glass found an escape discovering sub-cultures in the 1980's. Igniting his journey by skateboarding and drumming for punk/hardcore bands, teenage Glass began scribbling on school desks, creating homemade punk rock stencilspray painted and Sharpie pen t-shirts, and hand painting jackets.
Dave Glass has since illustrated, designed, and/or manually screen printed album covers, posters, and t-shirts for numerous bands around the globe, such as GBH, Soundgarden, Ramones, GG Allin, and Dead Boys. Glass has also created art for anything else subversive around the world, ranging from the adult fetish industry to burlesque troupes, as well as roller derby promotions and tattoo conventions. His work has been featured in books such as The Art Of Modern Rock, Electric Frankenstein High Energy Rock N Roll Poster Art, Aphrodisia II Art Of The Female Form, in addition to numerous international publications. Glass’ art has been exhibited in galleries and venues from Philadelphia to the Netherlands, including Black Vulture Gallery, House of Blues Disney World, La Galerie Provocatrice, and as an Artist in Residence at Toothless Cat Gallery.
Past music projects have included The Strychnine Babies, Dead Empty, and Doomed To Obscurity, among others. Currently he has teamed up with his partner in art crime, Kristen Grundy, forming DAWN 1111 (Eleven Eleven) Studios, which offers freelance illustration and photography services.
DAWN 1111 (Eleven Eleven) is an art collective between two niche artists of different mediums, but of the same punk ideology, who came together to offer freelance art and photography services. Kristen Grundy, a photographer and filmmaker, and Dave Glass, an illustrator and screen printer, are currently based in Philadelphia, PA, and exhibit together coast to coast.
