V. Vale - The Dils (1977)

An extremely historical piece, this shot is known as the first punk rock photo ever taken in San Francisco, on January 17, 1977. Sadly the height of which Jeffrey Scott (vocalist of The Dils) is pogoing is not justified - the mic stand itself is a good full foot off the ground!

Original Photo Digitally Printed on Photo Card
Print Dimensions: 11" x 14"
Framed and signed by the Artist with a unique narrated description at bottom of print

V. Vale is an editor, writer-interviewer, activist, historian, photographer and pianist. In 1977, V. Vale founded as sole proprietor Search & Destroy, San Francisco's first punk rock publication. It was published at City Lights bookstore, where Vale worked. In 1980, Vale launched Re/Search Publications. He is most likely the longest-lasting, and still active, punk publisher. Although Vale released books which include Jello Biafra, Henry Rollins, Lydia Lunch and many others, Re/Search is best known for its impact on the total world of underground culture and intellectual publishing.
